Nowadays, more and more people are wearing weave, such as superstars, girls, boys, even the old and the young also like it. Weave has such big magic! Do you know why?

Yes, I believe we all know, hair weave can well hide your physical weaknesses. You can wear any weave you want, then make you look better and full of confidence. So, what do you know about the weave?

Next, we will talk about everything you need to know about weave.

What is a weave?

A weave is an artificial or natural hair extension that’s fixed into human hair by sewing, gluing or clipping. Weaves originated in Egypt around 3400 BC where people dyed human hair or sheep wool and attached it to their heads with resin or beeswax. Cleopatra was noted in the ancient world for her peacock blue weave.

Today, weaves are one of the basic hair extension types popular among black women. Unlike clip-in hair extensions, which can be removed daily, weaves are meant to last for several weeks. A weave is not a wig. Rather than covering hair like a wig does, a weave is sewn directly into natural hair, accentuating and beautifying it.

A wig is a head covering made from human hair, animal hair, or synthetic fiber. Wigs for makeup or accessories. People who have lost all or part of their own hair due to illness or natural baldness can wear wigs.

Lace Frontal Wig

A lace frontal is a wig that has lace material around the crown area. This type of wig gives a very natural hairline appearance. Most times the lace needs to be cut and perfected, so it fits nicely around your head.

360 Frontal Wig

A 360 frontal covers the entire perimeter of the head. This frontal is the biggest one yet. The installation time gets cut in half since the frontal does most of the work. Once the tracks get sewn to the middle, the style is complete.

The 360 frontal gets sewn down on all parts except on the edges. To prevent the frontal from slipping back, use adhesive glue.

Full Lace Wig

A full lace wig is a type of wig that has hair sewn into a lace cap. It’s the most secure natural wig you can find. This type of wig also allows you to create parts on either side of the head and gives room for versatile hairstyles such as high ponytails or buns.

U-part Wig

A U-part wig is a U-shaped opening on a wig that fits into a U-shaped braided area that allows you to have the option of having a leave out or closure at the top. It’s a more versatile look compared to a traditional wig.

Hair Extensions

Hair extensions add length and/or fullness to human hair nicely.  Hair extensions are usually clipped, glued, or sewed on to other hair by incorporating additional human or synthetic hair. Natural human hair can be permed, dyed, and flat ironed whereas synthetic hair cannot. It usually contains clip-in-hair-extensions, tape-in-hair-extensions, U tip human hair extensions, I-tip human hair extensions, etc.

Clip-in Hair Extensions

A clip-in hair extension is a piece of hair weft that has clips attached to them. The clips will appear to look like mini combs. It’s applied by parting the hair in sections and gliding the comb piece through the hair and snapping it closed.

If you were looking for some quick extensions to have in for a few hours or a couple of days, try clip-ins.

Tape-In Hair Extensions

Tape extensions are also commonly named the “sandwich” method. These extensions are pre-taped and get taped between your hairs. It doesn’t require any chemicals or tools and can last for several months.

Hair Bundles

A hair bundle is a commonly used word in the hair industry which describes how wefts come purchased. Typically when purchasing hair, it either comes in a plastic packet with the hair held in place or the weft will be rolled together with a ribbon around it making it look like a bundle of hair.

Virgin Hair

Virgin hair is unprocessed human hair. What that means is any dyes, perms, bleaches or harsh washes haven’t altered it. Virgin hair also comes from a single donor. If you’re looking to color or bleach the hair yourself, then virgin hair is what you need.

Brazilian Hair

Brazilian hair is the most popular hair type in South Africa. The hair is typically soft, relatively thick and very durable. For this reason, the hair is suited to any style so it is always a great option, such as straight, body wavy, loose wavy and curly. The hair, in general, is soft, shining with natural strong hair texture that can make you look and feel more natural.

Lace Closure

A lace closure is a circular piece of weft hair, typically used with a full weave to cover all of the wearer’s hair. It’s usually made of silk or lace. A cosmetologist attaches the piece to a cornrow base to hide any of the wearer’s real hair.

Remy Hair

Remy hair is a type of hair that has all cuticles intact and is running in the same direction. This hair is the highest quality you will find and will give you long-lasting wears since the cuticles are intact. Remy hair is also tangle free.

What goes into different types of weave textures?

Popular textures for black women include Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian, Malaysian and Eurasian. Peruvian tends to be lightweight, and Indian is thick. Malaysian is known for being soft while Eurasian makes a relaxed style. And Brazilian? Well, it’s recognized for being fabulous.

Despite the names, most natural hair is actually Indian, Chinese, or a blend of the two. To make hair appear in Brazilian, Peruvian, or Malaysian, technicians have simply processed Indian or Chinese hair.

Of the options, Indian hair is probably best. It’s fine, dark, and tends to blend well with African American hair.

Which textures can you choose?

Human hair can be made into many nice looking shapes, you can choose your favorite texture according to your needs.
